Terms of Court and General Information
- Terms begin, 3rd Monday, Feb., April, June, Aug., Oct., Dec. Criminal convenes at 9:30 a.m. and civil convenes at 11:00 a.m.
- Grand Juries, 1st day of Term.
- Criminal and civil cases set on Term Date in court, or by praecipe on Term Day.
- Commissioners in Chancery are utilized in some contested chancery causes.
- Motion Day, 2nd & 4th Tuesday; 9:00 a.m. Criminal Cases; 1:30 p.m. Civil Cases.
- Criminal cases we either send by regular mail, Secure Remote Access, Interoffice mail boxes, email (scram orders) or facsimile (physiological evaluation orders). Civil cases we either send regular mail or interoffice mail boxes.
- Online Payments for Court Cost and Restitution can be paid online. Go to Related Links : Pay Criminal Cases and Traffic Tickets.
- Recordation of deeds is available in person, mail, or by E-recording. Recording hours are from 8:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, except for days that the Court is closed. Clients are encouraged to submit deed recordings electronically to avoid traveling to the Clerk’s Office.

- No Filings will be accepted by Fax. If it is an emergency situation or a court date within 5 days, the Pleading(s) can be emailed to: culpepercc@vacourts.gov. Please do not abuse the email a Original pleading(s) should be hand delivered or mailed well in advance of the filing deadline/court date. In order to avoid duplication of pleading(s), do not send an original if you emailed the pleading(s).
